Blue Crush

Blue, blue, blue...blue pillows, blue birds, blue flowers, blue jewelry, blue doors & blue plates. I am so in love with Blue.
This is a somewhat new revelation for me. I mean I've always liked blue, but right now I L-O-V-E love it...here are a few of my favorites from the wondrous, endless... inter web :o)

...and last but most certainly not least, my favorite blue of all time.

Button Hollow Farms

Meet Bean, he is just one of the adorable little Lions Heads that my sister raises....
These little baby cotton balls are just too cute! Visit her over at Button Hollow Farms and take a peek, but be careful as you are bound to fall in love with them. I know I did!!!

Project Creative Space

I've been gathering clippings from pretty magazines and saving images from the Internet for inspiration for my Home Office / Design Studio. I've been somewhat challenged trying to come up with a space that has several different work stations since I do a lot of different projects. Sewing, Jewelry, Desktop Publishing, Painting and Refurbishing yard sale and flea market finds.
All of that needs to fit into a 12x14 room. It's a pretty roomy room but there is so much that happens in there. The far wall has fabulous built in shelves and a window seat that doubles as a storage chest. There is also a 5 foot standard closet.
The room is on the west side of our house and gets lots of natural light. I have decided to play up the brightness of the room by keeping the walls mostly white.
My Daughter and I painted a cork board that I picked up at the Habitat for Humanity second hand store for 3 bucks! If you have one close to you I recommend checking it out. They have everything including the kitchen sink, and it supports a really great cause.
I picked up the "silver" trays at the dollar store. They are perfect little magnetic boards with super cute charm. The flowers at the top of the cork board were left over from my wedding decorations, and it makes me remember that day every time I look at them.
It's most definitely a work in progress, I will post additional pictures as finish them.
I'd love to hear what you think, even better show me your creative space!

happy news wednesday

Good News Wednesday is Here!!!

On Friday of last week, My Darling Hubbins adopted my Lou & Bub. It's just a formality as the kids have been calling him dad for well over two years now. All of us having the same last name is the cherry on an already delicious treat. As a mom I couldn't ask for a more loving, generous, kind & funny dad for them. In the words of our 7 year old son..."we have a good blender family". I couldn't agree more!

These pictures are from our vacation in Astoria, Oregon this last July.

No place like Home

We have been here for two years now, almost exactly. I love our place. We live on a Culdesac in a neighborhood we call The Village. It's full of families with children the same age as ours. Two of our kids walk to school and the other catches the bus just down the street. My Hubbins office is a mere 10 minute drive. Neighborhood parks are around every turn and everyone here takes pride in their homes. It's a wonderful place to live and work and play.
I love making this house we built into our home. My style has evolved over the years...but I guess the best way to describe it is...gathered. Birds, leopard print anything, vintage everything, antique chandeliers, shabby chic, modern, traditional...I pretty much like it all. I feel that as long as you love it...it goes with everything.
I have been taking it one room at a time...getting a good base set and then moving on to the next space on the list.
I chose a neutral color called Boston Tea Party and painted the entire first floor and the stairs, landing & hallway upstairs the same color. Its a nice easy going golden wheat color that instantly brings warmth into the space. Being new construction our house lacks the character that so many older homes have. My in-laws home in Sunny SoCal has exposed beams and cathedral ceilings. Stained glass windows and hard wood floors. I love that house, and my in-laws too.
So lacking that built in character means that I get to add it and what a fun task that is turning out to be...just look at these lovely photos that I have borrowed from various places on the web. BHG, Heather Bailey and Pottery Barn all have such bright and cheery home office/studios...
I just love these rooms!!! I'm getting the itch to start on another room...

Laundry Room Inspirations

My Oh My, but wouldn't it be lovely to have a laundry room like one of these? All the pretty jars and fabrics would make the never ending task enjoyable...well maybe not enjoyable...but pretty at least. I think I need to paint my drab little laundry room a cheery color too!

End Of Summer

I registered all my little dumplings for school today...I'm going to miss the little jerks when they go back to school in a few weeks. The house will be quiet without them...the house will also stay clean for longer than an hour :o)
I now have two middle schoolers...an 8th grader and a 6th grader and a 2nd grader. Our youngest will be spending the rest of his elementary days  all by his lonesome now, no more big brother to hang out with on the bus...
I can't believe how fast they are growing up...my babies. I'm also unbelievably proud of how very cool they are. Smart and Funny and still so Sweet. With the new school year comes a fresh beginning for my business. Well Businesses. My housecleaning business is picking up and I hope to have enough clients to keep me busy busy busy, but leave enough room for me to build my brand on Etsy.
When the kids go back to school, I get so much done! I have big plans for both of my businesses this year...some of them are still working and being re-worked only in my mind at this point. There is so much that goes into it! So very many details...must stay focused...must stay on target and set and make those goals! The end of this summer is just the beginning !

Cheers and Happy Thoughts.

The Meaning of Bliss

noun

1. supreme happiness; utter joy or contentment: wedded bliss.

2. Theology . the joy of heart.

3. heaven; paradise: the road to eternal bliss.

4. Archaic . a cause of great joy or happiness.

Bliss. Second only to Serendipity, Bliss is one of my favorite words. For me, Bliss is waking up to my husband of 2 years. In the home that we have made together with our three children, still sound asleep down the hall. Bliss is every kiss my husband gives me. Every smile I see on my children's face. It's seeing my daughter make the change from girl to woman. It's knowing that I will always hold a special part of my sons hearts.
I find Bliss in making this house we built together into the home we have always dreamt of. There is Bliss in owning my own business and being my own boss. In spending happy lazy hours doing nothing at all with my best friend, my husband. In sharing this journey of life with him and watching our children grow...I am surrounded by bliss.
